Home > Signal Boxes > Clay Cross South Junction Updated: 17.03.2011

Although this is the actual diagram from Clay South Junction Box, it dates from just before the box closed and consequently a lot of the sidings and other detail has been scrathed out. The centre sidings have been scratched out so to have the sidings on the Down side for Clay Cross Works along with the Up side sidings. Whilst the Mainlines are fully track circuited, they were still of course worked under Absolute BlockRegulations. The Goods lines have no track circuits at all however, not even on the apporach to the Home signals.

Leaving the Erewash Valley line and heading for Chesterfield is a Mainline branded Class 58, picure by G A Cryer The line to the right is the Down loop and the connection was what went to Clay Cross Iron Works.
